Citrix as a Service

So, what is citrix? You might know them for Citrix Receiver, or maybe for their application hosting abilities. We utilize Citrix for something a little different. Citrix is the best of the best when it comes to desktop virtualization. They even designed their own protocol (graphic), ICA protocol. ICA is much more friendly and efficient than what most cloud providers use, RDP. This is the secret sauce behind our solution. Utilizing Citrix, we can bring you a virtual desktop solution that’s
- secure
- easy to manage
- and easily overcomes latency issues.
Citrix, along with our other partners, are what make us different. We strive to deliver the best platform, that you can deliver to your clients.

Citrix Delivery

Citix ICA is a proprietary protocol designed for passing data between server and clients. It is not bound to any one platform, enabling ordinary Windows applications to be run on a Windows server, and for any supported client to gain access to those applications. Besides Windows, ICA is also supported on Mac, Unix, Linux, and most tablets and smartphones.

Receiver Access - After navigating to their provider's customized login gateway, users will be prompted to install the Citrix plugin. If it's the first time accessing CloudConnect from a specific device, users may follow the prompts and install the plugin. Once installed, users may enter their login credentials and launch their Cloud Desktop.

Web Access- To access the platform directly using HTML5 web access (no plug-in required), users may navigate to the CloudConnect logon access gateway. From here, users may enter their logon credentials and launch the Cloud Desktop. This is ideal for use with devices that do not allow installation locally, such as Chromebooks or kiosk workstations.

RDP Delivery

Should users choose not to utilize Citrix for cloud desktop delivery, Microsoft's Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) provides remote display and input capabilities over network connections for Windows-based applications running on a server. RDP is designed to support different types of network topologies and multiple LAN protocols and is an effective and affordable method of providing Cloud Desktop access.

Remote Graphics / AutoCAD

The capability to enable vGPU resources on CloudConnect is an exciting new possibility with recent upgrades. vGPU is an advanced technology that brings the benefits of hardware virtualization to graphical processing units. For the first time, virtual desktop users can run graphically demanding CAD/CAM applications and expect performance similar to that of a high end engineering workstation. CloudConnect has partnered with NVIDIA and VMware to integrate this technology into the CloudConnect Platform.

CloudConnect Partners may assign video RAM to virtual machines in profiles of 1, 2, 4, 8, and 16 GB. Each user with access to the virtual machine requires an NVIDIA Virtual Workstation License, which will be automatically allocated by CloudConnect.
